Brisbane Airport New Parallel Runway
LOCATION

SUMMARY
With construction completed in mid-2020, Brisbane’s new runway and associated facilities was one of the largest aviation construction projects undertaken in Australia.
The project involved a 4km long site and took over 2 years to complete.
The irrigation requirements of the project saw the use of 1.2 billion litres of recycled water.
Most of the areas requiring irrigation were either seeded or stolonised, requiring targeted, reliable irrigation.
Our design considered system efficiency and achieved this by sizing the mainline network around the 4km long site, ensuring uniform sprinkler placement and the use of a custom-built variable speed multiple pumping system. A Flow Meter was installed to provide accurate daily forecasts of next day water use.
